17th May 2007 – LOCAL BUSINESSES “BOWL FOR BARNARDO’S”

This week, forty teams drawn from businesses across the Greater Peterborough area battled for the Barnardo’s Ten-Pin Bowling Trophy at the Lakeside Superbowl.

The event was organised by the Peterborough Fund Raising Committee, and Committee Chairman and chief organiser Steve King from Buckles Solicitors LLP said “The Bowling for Barnardo’s evening is a relatively new event for the committee as this is only the second year we have run it, but yet again we have been overwhelmed with the interest from local businesses. Last year’s event proved to be a lot of fun for all the participants and the great part about the concept is that it gives local business people the opportunity to network in a social settingt. Of course, the ultimate aim of the event was to raise money for children’s charity Barnardo’s and through the generosity of the attending teams we managed to raise a fantastic figure of £2,400.”

On the night, local Chartered Accountants Baker Tilly took home the winner’s trophy and unsurprisingly, one of their bowlers got the highest combined score over the two games. Local recruitment specialists Anne Corder Recruitment surprised themselves on the night by avoiding a repeat of their wooden spoon prize in 2006, achievement accredited to the dead shot accuracy of bowling legend Emma Wright.
