31 March 2008 – LOCAL BUSINESSES “BOWL FOR BARNARDO’S” This week 48 teams drawn from businesses across the Greater Peterborough area battled for the Barnardo’s Ten-Pin Bowling Trophy at the Lakeside Superbowl. The event was organised by the Peterborough Fundraising Committee Committee Chairman and chief organiser, Steve King, from Buckles Solicitors LLP said “The Bowling for Barnardo’s evening has gradually grown in popularity in the three years it has been running and this year we have been overwhelmed with the support from local businesses. In fact, we were at capacity for the event a good month before it was scheduled.” He continued, “I think the popularity of the evening is due to it providing local business people with the opportunity to network in a very relaxed format. Of course, the ultimate aim of the event was to raise money for the children’s charity, Barnardo’s, and through the generosity of the participating teams we managed to raise a fantastic figure of £3,200.” On the night, Peterborough-based Greenwoods Solicitors LLP took home the winners trophy with Anthony Barnes of Sphere Financial Recruitment being the individual top scorer. Such a good night was had by some attendees that one bowler, Jenna Marshall, managed to walk halfway across the city to her home without realising she was still wearing her bowling shoes! Full results - Click here 14 September 2007 - Rugby Legend Confirmed at Peterborough Rugby World Cup Event The Peterborough Fund Raising Committee (PFRC) today announced their next charity event of 2007 for national Children’s charity Barnardo’s. The Committee have secured the services of England rugby legend, David Duckham MBE, to provide a live commentary on the England versus South Africa in the 2007 Rugby World Cup, on Friday 14th September 2007 at the home of local rugby, Peterborough Rugby Club. 17th May 2007 – LOCAL BUSINESSES “BOWL FOR BARNARDO’S” This week, forty teams drawn from businesses across the Greater Peterborough area battled for the Barnardo’s Ten-Pin Bowling Trophy at the Lakeside Superbowl. 30 January 2007 - Tasty Charity Fundraiser The new Royal Fusion Indian and Thai restaurant in Uffington played host to a different type of launch night on Monday 29th January when 80 people filled the restaurant to capacity to sample the excellent cuisine and raise £3,500 for children’s charity Barnardo’s. 4 January 2007 - Local business committee presents cheques worth £18,000 to Barnardo's and Peterborough Sports Aid The Peterborough Fundraising Committee today presented a cheque for £17,000 to national charity Barnardo’s and a cheque for £1,875 to Peterborough SportsAid.
