14 September 2007 - Rugby Legend Confirmed at Peterborough Rugby World Cup Event

The Peterborough Fund Raising Committee (PFRC) today announced their next charity event of 2007 for national Children’s charity Barnardo’s. The Committee have secured the services of England rugby legend, David Duckham MBE, to provide a live commentary on the England versus South Africa in the 2007 Rugby World Cup, on Friday 14th September 2007 at the home of local rugby, Peterborough Rugby Club.

The event was conceived by committee members Phil Elmer and Steve Spinks of construction and property consultants, CBA Ltd. Phil is well known as the Chairman of Peterborough Rugby Club and saw an opportunity to use the excellent facilities at the ground in Fengate.

Phil said, “The evening should appeal to anyone who enjoys supporting England at international events. The game will be shown live on big screens at Peterborough Rugby Club, guaranteeing an electric atmosphere. We have been very fortunate to get David Duckham to be our guest on the evening. As many people will know, David is a true English sporting hero and is certainly one of the best wingers England has ever produced. I’m sure his professional, and no doubt colourful, analysis of the game will be a highlight of the evening.”

The event, which will include a charity raffle and silent auction, is expected to raise a four figure sum for Barnardo’s adding to the total raised at the professional bowling night organised by the PFRC in May this year.

Tickets for the event are well priced at £25 per person and this is inclusive of a gourmet buffet. Parties of 10 receive 2 bottles of complimentary wine.
